Vietnam Visa Checklist for Families Travelling With Children
One family itinerary does not necessarily mean identical document requirements for every traveller. Before a trip to Vietnam, check each family member’s passport and entry arrangements individually.
This is particularly useful when family members hold different nationalities or children are travelling with only one parent or another accompanying adult.
Create an individual document record
Make a simple record for each traveller containing:
- Name as shown in the passport.
- Passport nationality and type.
- Passport expiry date.
- Intended travel dates.
- Visa or exemption arrangement to be checked.
- Application reference, where applicable.
This is an organisational tool. The applicable requirements still need to be confirmed for each person.
Check children’s arrangements separately
Do not assume that an adult’s visa or exemption automatically establishes a child’s permission to travel.
Clarify the procedure based on the child’s nationality and travel document. If there is any uncertainty about how a child is recorded in a passport or application, ask before submitting.
Review any completed information against the relevant document rather than copying details from another family member’s form.
Ask about accompanying-adult documents
If a child is travelling with one parent, a guardian or another adult, ask the airline and relevant authorities whether consent, custody or relationship documents are needed.
U.S. travel guidance for Vietnam recommends carrying evidence of the relationship and discusses consent documentation for children travelling with one or neither parent. Its recommendations should not be treated as a universal document checklist for every nationality. U.S. official guidance on travelling with children
Check the requirements relevant to your family, including departure and transit countries.
Keep application records organised
As a practical step, label each person’s documents clearly. Make sure the correct result is matched with the correct passport.
If several applications are involved, check each one rather than treating a single notification as an update for the entire family.
Agree on who will monitor correspondence and keep the travel records accessible.
Protect children’s personal information
Avoid sharing passport images, dates of birth or application references in public comments.
Begin a support enquiry with the general situation and ask which private channel should be used if documents are required.
Ask about your family’s next step
Open the chatbot at WOW VN Visa. Share each traveller’s nationality, the purpose of the trip and intended arrival date. Mention the accompanying-adult arrangement when relevant and ask what assistance is available.
